Signs of the Times - Fast Food?

Lost in translation or designed to catch your eye? ‘Signs of the Times’ aims to bring you, in ‘That’s Life’ style, funny signs from around the area.

It was Esther Rantzen’s 1970’s show ‘That’s Life’ that first featured pictures of funny signs featuring broken English taken whilst BBC viewers were on their cheap package holidays around the world.

40 years on and the same signs with broken or incomprehensible English are still appearing and Turkey is no stranger to this phenomenon.

The first of our signs was taken in Fethiye by Jane Akatay of a fast food outlet. At least no one can accuse them of lying about the effects that over consumption of their products might lead to.

If you have a funny picture of a sign or signs you would like to share with our readers please email them to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it stating where you took it.
