Jane Austen’s classic has been ‘re-mixed’ by Seth Grahame-Smith to see just how agreeable all those classic characters would really be if they should happen to be faced with…flesh eating zombies. Sue Dawson finds out for the Fethiye Times Book Review.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

How could anyone not pick up this title??  Although you should probably give it a miss if you`re a big Austen fan – it`s not all that true to the original!!

A mysterious plague has struck England – zombies are rising from the grave.  As they do.  Our young heroine, Elizabeth Bennett, is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but at the same time falls in love with Mr Darcy.  Grappling with blood-lusting foes (that`s the zombies, not Mr. Darcy) she must also get to grips with the social snobbery of her time  (that`s Lady Catherine De Burgh and her killer ninjas).  All the characters from the original and beloved classic are here, but none of them are doing business quite as normal.

It might be an idea not to take this one too seriously but I can`t think of a better way to introduce Jane Austen to teen-aged boys.
