The centre of Fethiye was filled with the sound of music and the smell of food on Saturday as a colourful celebration of Yörük culture took place.
Yörük from all over Muğla province gathered in the town’s Culture Centre and Theatre to celebrate their amazing heritage.
An annual event, it features speeches, and exhibition of traditional Yörük handicrafts, Yörük food, music, dancing and color.
Transhumance rather than nomadic – Yörük are farmers that, along with their families and animals, migrate between their coastal winter villages and highland pastures and summer homes.
Unfortunately we couldn’t go this year but we usually do and our headline photo and the one above were taken a few years ago.
You can find out more about Yörük in our series of articles here.
