Fethiye has had an unusually wet winter but yesterday the sun came out and with it signs
that the town is busy getting ready for the summer season, which officially starts just one
month from now.
The warm, sunny weather presented a perfect excuse for a wander around the town,
and to catch glimpses of all the activity.
Cleaning up after the storms
Çalış beach has seen some storms over the last few months but Mete Ay, head of the resort’s
Tourism association, is busy organising the cleaning of the beach and the removal of all the
Fethiye’s ‘Drunken buildings‘ are disappearing, one by one.
Putting the finishing touches
Mozaik Bahçe will be opening tomorrow, April 1st and the last few touches to the popular
garden restaurant were being made.
They have made a few changes to their menu that can be found here.
Meanwhile, Fora, down on the harbour, was busy with drills and angle grinders.
Moving up market
The everyday market is getting lively and the butcher,
Çarıklı – Bizim Kasap, has a completely new and very smart theme.
And some smiling new faces.
Old places and new
Wander through Paspatur, the oldest and most characterful part of Fethiye,
and you’ll catch glimpses of the shopkeepers dusting off their displays.
There are some new and very stylish places too, like Flow, which will be opening shortly.
The municipality have been busy too, building a ‘roof’, parts of which are ready,
while others are waiting to be covered.
Bustling boat yard
The busiest place of all at the moment is certainly the boat yard.
Full to bursting with boats and gulets of all shapes and sizes, Fethiye’s boat yard is a hive of activity.
If everything goes according to plan, Fethiye will have everything ready by the beginning of May.
