We have seen the castle now we look at some of the other interesting things about this town.

Çandarlı, in common with many other places, lost its Greek population in 1923 but you can still see evidence of their residence in the town. This beautiful old Greek house was built in 1859.

The sign explains how it has now been acquired through the courts by Çandarlı Belediye, who finally became the owners in May this year. We look forward to seeing it refurbished on a future visit.

And all over the town there are lovely old streets leading down to the sea. It is one of those places where you can wander around the back streets for hours getting occasional glimpses of the Aegean.

And of course it has a beach – and we’ll show you what that’s like in our final article on this charming town, coming soon.
