The necropolis of Seleucia Pereiria includes many rock tombs which look very familiar to a resident of Fethiye.

The biggest one, locally known as the King’s Tomb, is particularly impressive.

Inside there are no less than 93 grave sites – including, in the centre, a rather splendid almost four-poster tomb which must have been where the main man lay.

Unfortunately the whole place was stripped by grave robbers many years ago and, whilst there are traces of carvings of animal and plants on rock surfaces inside, there are no inscriptions to help identify those who were actually buried here.
