Yes, folks, the village wing is heading east, hoping to escape the rain. First of all we’ll spend a few days exploring Hatay – that’s the bit of the country that ‘turns the corner’ at the end of the Mediterranean. Then we go on to Syria.
We’ll travel on buses, planes and trains, and on the subject of planes, now is a great time to get around in Turkey with Pegasus Airlines.
They do cheap flights to Istanbul from Dalaman (this writer bought a return ticket in December for 73TL – a one-way bus fare is 70!) and from Antalya you can fly all over the country.
Take a look at their website www.flypgs.com and treat yourself to some cheap travel.
And when you get back why not tell us about it? Include a photo or two. We welcome articles from our readers, and reserve the right to edit.
And our travels will be recounted via regular bulletins on this site thanks to the net book (mini laptop) which travels in its handy blue carrying backpack. Less than half the size of a standard laptop, and weighing just over 1kg, it’s an ideal item for the internet-using traveller.
So keep logging on to Fethiye Times to keep up with our journey.
