Tomorrow, Friday 10th June there will be plenty of fun and games in Fethiye’s main square, Beşkakza, with a Kite Festival kicking off at 15:00 closely followed by a Bicycle Festival an hour later.
The Kite Festival is encouraging now not only kite flyers but kite makers too. So if you can do one or both, this is certainly the place for you.
For the lycra clad amongst us… but every one else too off course, there is a bike ride. This will start at 16:00, heading off from the town square to Cafe Reis (the lighthouse at the far end of the Fethiye Kordon) before heading back to the square.
It’s flat all the way, so it should be a breeze.
Fethiye plays its part in World Environment Week
Both events are part of the activities organised by the municipality and the ÇKK (Çevre Koruma ve Kontrol Müdürlüğü) – Envirnomental Protection and Control Directorate – as part of World Environment Week.
The logo for these events “Doğanın sahibi değil parçasıyım!” roughly translates as “I am part of nature not the owner!”
We think this logo is spot on… and what’s more the poster for the bike ride says there will be surprise presents.
The weather looks ok for Friday, so why not make an afternoon of it and head on out!
