The warmer weather (seems) to arrived at last and with the longer days,
blue(r) skies and lush greenery, life is beginning to stir in the mountains behind Fethiye.
We are fortunate to be able to once again share some recent photographs
taken by two of our favourite photographers that perfectly reflect the changing
scenery and abundant natural life in the rural parts of the Fethiye region at this
time of year.
It’s a wonderful world
Well, it certainly seems to be a wonderful world for local resident and talented
photographer, Angela Sowton. She likes to spend her days exploring the
countryside around Fethiye, capturing joyful, beautiful and occasionally surprising
images as she explores the quiet lanes of her adopted home.
Little and large
A short while ago Angela found an amazing Greater Viennese Emperor but this week
she came across some much smaller creatures – but no less great.
The mother goats are also out grazing on the grassland, providing rich milk
for their kids.
Far from the madding crowds
Rural life in villages like Ortaköy is peaceful and life moves at a slower pace;
very different from the vibrant hustle and bustle of Fethiye town.
The village mosque has become a home with a view to a couple of storks, the perfect
place for them to raise their young. By the time the hot summer months arrive
they will be ready to head up to the cool highland pastures (yayla).
Next week’s weather forecast
The weather forecast for next week looks rather unsettled…
but the one thing we can be certain of is that summer is on the way.
