Foraging for Fungi at the Uzumlu Mushroom Festival - Video Report
Merrymaking in the village square and mushroom hunting through mountain forests were the leading activities at this year’s Morel Festival in and around the village of Üzümlü, 2- 4 April 2010.

Local and expat vendors showcased their wares, which included a range of handicrafts and a host of such delectables as Devonshire pasties, fragrant honeys and of course the local Turkish version of stuffed crêpes, gözleme.
The more ambitious festivalgoers set off for the hills in the train of expert guides from Turkey and abroad in search of morels and other mushrooms.
Along the way, hunters took in Roman ruins and somewhat impromptu musical performances.
Although just a few mushrooms were actually found, sunny weather, good company and a challenging walk left little room for disappointment.
