General

The local area offers a fantastic variety of places for walking. The long distance walk the Lykian Way starts from the area. The best time to walk is Spring and Autumn. The summer days are really too warm to exert yourself during the day and Winter weather can be unpredictable at higher altitudes.

Explore the rich flora

At present, the range of maps is very limited if non existent so it is wise to join an organised walk or walk with others who know where they are going. Never walk on your own and always tell someone where you are going in case you injure yourself or get lost. It's very easy to follow a goat track and end up in a dangerous place.  Take a mobile phone and make sure you have the relevant numbers with you. Also take a small first aid kit for bites, blisters, stings and sprains. In the summer months take as much water as you can carry as water can be scarce in some areas.

The Rules of Walking

• Never walk on your own and always tell someone where you are going in case you

• Always wear strong walking boots to protect your feet against sprains, bites, grazes and stings.

• Don't walk close to cliff faces as the rock can be loose.

• In the summer months take as much water as you can carry as water can be scarce in some areas.

• Join a guided walk if possible.
