Sunday 22nd March finally sees us performing in the snow (of course) for film crews from a TRT1 programme, and the local TRT News reporter.

As this writer was actually performing there are no photos – but regular readers have all seen us perform in the snow before, so what’s new?

Then we were invited to the 5-star Toprak to attend the official opening party for a new Tourism Association for Sarıkamış and district which hopes to encourage tourism year round – not just amongst the keen skiing crowd in the winter.

There was a very smart barman serving non-alcoholic drinks:

And the great and good of the area were gathered in the adjacent ballroom to listen to a longish speech (fortunately illustrated with slides):

The lady bending over the children and wearing the light grey scarf is the TRT presenter for whom we’d danced earlier.

And then we had an hour to wait for our transport back to Kars but what better place to while away an hour than gazing out at the snowy landscape.

And while Kars is comparatively snow-free and has enjoyed a mild winter, from the size of the icicles on the Toprak’s eaves it would seem Sarıkamış has been as cold as ever.
