If you are living in Fethiye you should try to travel within Turkey.  It is a magnificent country in terms of landscape, culture and historical sites.  You can travel cheaply by bus and train – and ‘Easyjet’ type airlines are increasingly being set up and should fly into Dalaman as soon as the new terminal is completed.  However, given the cheapness of accommodation and road improvements, the best way to travel is by car.  Outside of the summer months of June, July and August – when Turkish schools are on holiday and the roads are busier – driving long distance in Turkey is like ‘motoring’ in Great Britain in the 1950s.  Empty roads where you can stop whenever you feel like it, and not miss out on the amazing views that so frequently appear as you drive around within the country.
