Take a Look at Turkey - Kutahya

Kutahya

This ancient city is about 330 miles from Fethiye and famous for its production of traditional Turkish tile. By road you drive to Denizli, Afyon and then Kutahya, which also lies on the train network.

Kutahya has many interesting historical sites, see www.turkeytravelplanner.com

However, we went purely to buy tile and it was well worth the trip. It is difficult to buy Turkish tiles in Fethiye as they are sold as souvenirs, so are only stocked in small quantities in a limited range of designs. Furthermore the 20cm square tile that cost 4YTL in Hisaronu last summer is only 1.5YTL at the manufacturers’ showroom in Kutahya. Buy in large quantities and it could work out even cheaper. We bought from Altın ż/span>ini whose website can be found at www.altincini.com. The site has their full range of tile and, if you want to buy, choose from the site then phone or e-mail. They will quote you a price for your tiles plus delivery to Fethiye. Their Export Sales Manager, Bülent, speaks English.
