A Trip to the East – Part 6
Unfortunately there was no time to explore Malatya as they wanted to visit Ankara before coming home.
In Ankara they saw the Atatürk Mausoleum which is permanently guarded by troops from the army, air force and navy who do a smart job when it is time to change the guard.
As well as Atatürk’s tomb the site has a very interesting Museum.
And as you can see from this group photo, our travellers had very good weather in Ankara.
They also visited Atatürk’s house and the old Parliament building before exploring the castle area where there are some interesting antique shops.

And of course they couldn’t resist one of the largest shopping malls in Europe and the chance to browse through shops with familiar names: M & S, Next, Top Shop et al.
