You can still see the remains of Trabzon's city walls and within them, down near the harbour, is a teeming bazaar.

As well as stalls selling everything under the sun, you can find old hans, mosques and a restored bedestan (a bazaar within a building where jewellery and gold and silver were traditionally sold).

Of course we forgot to take photographs of the old buildings – but at least we can show you the working class population of Trabzon shopping in the old bazaar area.
