Fethiye Times was looking at the ‘heads statue’ on the Fethiye Kordon recently.
Hopefully you all know what we mean by the ‘heads statue’. If not you can find a map link here.
But how many of the men (note that they are all male heads) represented there do you actually recognise?
You will all know of Ataturk who occupies the main raised central position, and when you read the names of those in the lower rank three of them are sultans whom we have already written about:
and finally Kanuni Sultan Süleyman (1495 – 1566) better known as Süleyman I or Süleyman the Magnificent who reigned from 1520 – 66.
There are 16 heads in total and, taking away Ataturk and the three sultans listed above, leaves us with a further 12 to tell you more about.
