Hairy Bikers' Visit Turkey

Simon King and David Myers are the stars of a new cookery series on the BBC. The programme is called the "Hairy Bikers' Cook Book" and follows the bearded couple as they take a tour of some of the countries and places that other cookery programmes haven't ventured to.

This week the couple visted Turkey and headed away from the usual location of Istanbul inland to find the 'real' Turkey and its great food. Their travels took them by motor bike to Cappadocia where they cooked beneath one of the wierd rock formations, through Kaharamanmara where they were teased by the vendor of a shop selling the unique elastic ice cream famous in the town. They then continued on to Sanliurfa on the Syrian border where the sacred fish swim. One of the highlights was a visit to Turkey's 'greatest baklava maker' where they watched the sweet pastry delight being made and then sampled a man size portion each.

The series continues next Wednesday night 19th April at 8:00pm on BBC2 where they continue their trip around Turkey heading East along the Syrian, Iraq and Iranian borders and on to Van.

Even if you don't care much for cookery programmes this is one not to miss if you love Turkey with a bit of humour thrown in.

Don't miss it!

For more information about the programme check out their website and see the route they too.
