This year Fethiye’s people, nature and countryside have certainly been tested and teased by the weather.
Come rain, wind or shine…
Throughout February there have been torrential downpours, thunder and wind storms
but there have also been some gloriously sunny days and magnificent sunsets.
…through snow and floods…
Some higher areas have been covered in snow, while others have been flooded.
…Spring has appeared at last!
Local trekking guide*, Ali İhsan Emre, has a remarkable eye for nature’s minutiae,
and always seems to be able to captures shots of the natural world most
of us probably wouldn’t notice… unless he pointed it out.
As winter turns to spring
Local resident, nature lover and rambler, Erdal Pay, also never goes anywhere
without his camera and last week captured some evocative scenes of the last winter days.
… bringing the first blossoms
Ali Kışlak, sustainablity consultant and environmental farmer in the mountains above Fethiye,
last week spotted some of the first blossom of the season and an early bee, as shown in our headline photo.
All we can really be certain of is that the temperatures will soon begin to rise and Fethiye’s earth and air
will come alive with nature’s amazing bounty.
