Fethiye has an excellent road network and is well served by public transport but did you know that there is a different and rather unusual way to get from Çalış to the heart of Fethiye, by the Çalış Water Taxi?
Cool, easy and efficient service
The Çalış water taxi service is not only a relaxing way to get to town; it’s efficient too. From 10am to 11.30pm, the water taxis leave from Çalış and Fethiye every thirty minutes, every half hour and on the hour, throughout the summer months and at just 6TL each way (back in 2011 it was 5TL), so excellent value for money too.
It is a great way to travel and see the beautiful scenery and coastline and there are reasonably priced soft drinks available on board.
Cem at the wheel
When the Fethiye Times team took a trip a couple of weeks ago, Cem was at the wheel of the boat and the passengers were Fethiye residents, Lyn and Steve and their friend Pauline, who’s on holiday.
They told us they always use the water taxi to go to Çalış from Fethiye where they live.
Join us on the Çalış Water Taxi
As you can see from this short video, it is a delightful way to travel.
After negotiating the reed lined waterway, Cem takes the water taxi into the gulf and heads out across the bay to the centre of Fethiye, conveniently close to all the shops and restaurants.
