Applications for the new universal health insurance (UHI) policy are on hold according to two local residents.

Josephine Wallace and her husband have been resident in Gocek for 3 years and were very keen to apply for the new UHI or SGK health insurance policy after reading about it on www.fethiyetimes.com.

The first thing they found out was that it is no longer possible to apply to the ESNAF and they were sent to the SGK office on the Mugla Road a few hundred yards up from the industrial estate

After filling in various forms and waiting around they were eventually called to speak with the director.

The director told them that all applications for the UHI policy had been put on hold by the Turkish Government and they would therefore not be able to carry on the process.

They were advised to wait at least a month before returning to the offices for an update.
