Have you had to pay for NHS healthcare?

Following our article on medical insurance last week the BBC has been in contact with Fethiye Times to find readers who want to take part in a TV programme.

Real Story with Fiona Bruce is looking to speak to British citizens living and/or working abroad who have had to pay for medical treatment back in the UK.  Regulations brought in two years ago mean that if you live outside of the country for more than 3 months of any one year - you could be liable for charges.

The new series of Real Story which begins in October is looking to find contributors who would be able to speak on camera about their experiences.  We'd like to highlight the fact that being British doesn't mean you can instantly access free healthcare in the UK - on one side this will infuriate those who have lived abroad for some time after contributing UK taxes and National Insurance - but on the other hand, the NHS has guidelines on who should and shouldn't pay - and in some cases these rules are being broken.

We'd love to hear from anyone who has returned to the UK for health reasons and has then billed by the NHS. We want to know how they felt about paying  - or how they managed to avoid it.  Please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
