Renting a Post Box

If you find your property doesn’t have postal delivery (like many because of on-going postal problems), rent a post box at the main PTT in Fethiye.

Current rental charges are available from the PTT.

Go down the right hand side of the PTT building (past the public telephones) and you’ll see the boxes on your right.  Turn into the building at the door opposite the boxes, go upstairs and ask for ‘Posta kutu’ – Turkish for post box.

You’ll pay your deposit plus rental for whatever portion of 2008 is remaining.  If you wish to reclaim your deposit when you eventually give up the box, keep your receipt from this initial transaction.

You’ll be given a key to your box.

Your address will be very simple:

(XX will be your box number).

You have access to your box 24/7 and 365 days of the year.

If items arrive which are too large for the box, a slip of paper appears in the box telling you to go upstairs to collect them.

In January you will receive a notice in your box reminding you it’s time to pay rent for another year and telling you the cost.

At the moment all the post boxes appear to have been allocated. So, if you want one, make sure you register on the waiting list.
