Remember December last year when we all heard you had to go into the bank with proof of address or your account would be frozen? 

It was all about Turkish banks cracking down on money laundering?

Well at the end of December the deadline was extended, as we informed you at the time, to the end of June this year.

The village wing finally got around to proving address on June 22nd only to be told the deadline had been extended yet again, and is now the end of September.

So good news for readers who are in the UK and may not be planning to come out before the end of June. 

Also the village wing has now gone through the whole process at two different banks (İş Bank and Finansbank) who each asked for very different documents as proof – so maybe go ask your bank what it wants before you start digging out the necessary documentation.
