The local tonic drought may now be over but the new packaging of Schweppes mixers can be a bit misleading according to a couple of our readers.

Last week we reported that the Schweppes tonic drought looked like it was over when newly designed bottles of tonic were seen in Fethiye.

However, www.fethiyetimes.com readers Mike and Jean have been in contact to warn G&T lovers that the new bottles can be a bit misleading.

They were in Migros last week when they spotted the shiny new Schweppes bottles. They picked up a few bottles of ‘tonic’ and carried on shopping.

Later that day they settled down to a nice G&T using the new tonic. But when they took their first sip it was clear that this was like no ordinary tonic.

A closer inspection of the bottle found it wasn’t Indian tonic but Pomegranate tonic – marked NAR AROMALI TONIK on the bottle

Now maybe this new variation on the tonic theme would go well with Vodka but it certainly doesn’t with the classic G&T.

So make sure you check the names on the newly designed Schweppes mixer bottles closely or you could end up with something unexpected in your next drink.
