When you pop into your local branch of Finans Bank you can now say ‘Kalimera’ – good morning in Greek.

The National Bank of Greece has bought a 46% stake in the Turkish Finans Bank beating off rival bidder Citibank at a cost of 2.3 billion Euros. This deal is a sign of the changing relationships between Greece and Turkey who are both NATO members but have been bitter rivals over the last century.

So, when you pop into your local branch of Finans Bank instead of saying ‘Gunaydin’ – good morning in Turkish, you can now also say ‘Kalimera’ – good morning in Greek.
