Just as his contemporary Bach revolutionised western classical music, Buhurizade did the same for Turkish classical music.

He lived through the reigns of no less than five Ottoman sultans and became famous during that of Mehmet IV who was his patron.

He taught music in the palace school and is believed to have written over a thousand works of which only about forty have survived.

He is buried in Edirne Kapı cemetery in Istanbul just in case you’d like to visit.
