Last week, Fethiye Times went along to the opening of ‘The Card Shop 2’ in Calis to see what was on offer.

New and Used

As well as a great initial selection of brand new novels and reference books,  the shop also offers good condition second hand books on the well established ‘read and return’ basis.  All the prices are clearly marked, with the charges being 5 lira for a used hardback or 3 lira for a paperback.  Once you’ve read it you can return it (still in good nick) and get a lira back.

If you’re after something in particular speak to new partner Sue Dawson (pictured, left) who will do her best to get it for you.

“The process is simple,” she told us, “Just let me know the book you’re after and I’ll need to take a small deposit. I use a number of suppliers, so I’ll contact them all to see who offers the best price including the shipping costs.  If the customer wishes me to go ahead, I’ll let them know when the book is in and they can pay me the balance when they collect it.

“If they decide not to go ahead, they can have their deposit back.”

More than Books

As the name suggests, there is large selection of greetings cards to choose from, including some eye catching 3D designs.

Sue, who is used to working with books as she was involved with library management in a previous life, is also a keen artist and this is reflected in the shop.  Space has been allocated to local artists to provide a market for their work.

This includes art work by Anita Asar, paintings by Susannah Winkle and bead gifts from Sweeties to name a few.

It’s well worth popping down for a browse around, especially if you’re looking for a gift.  There are many other items of stationary and knick-knacks, so you’re sure to find something to please.
