Private Schools in Fethiye

There are three private primary schools:

• Ozel Fethiye

• Sehit Fetih Bey

• Ozel ATA

And one private secondary school:

• Fethiye Koleji

This school opened in 2001 and is located in Tasyaka. Take the second right after the bus station, on the far side of the canal and the school is about 100 metres along that street on the right.

In March 2005 the school had 207 students of which 25 were British passport holders. The school day is from 08.30 – 16.10 and, for non-Turkish speakers, there is a further session 16.30 – 18.00 of Turkish support for which there is no extra charge. The curriculum in Years 1 – 5 comprises:

• Turkish

• Mathematics

• English

• Art

• Music

• Religious Studies

• Sport

• Life Sciences

In the final 3 years of study, years 6 – 8 the above is expanded to include:

• Information Technology

• German

• Science – which is taught in English.

The school also offers an activities programme on Saturdays, for no extra charge. Pupils attend 10.30 – 15.00 and can take part in:

• Art

• Folk dance

• Gymnastics

• Chess

• Basket ball

• Music

Fees

For the 2004 –05 academic year the fees are:

Tuition - 3,500 YTL

Food - 950 YTL

Transport - 750 YTL.

The school transport service will collect your child from home and return them at the end of the school day. The service covers a wide area from Gocek to Oludeniz.

Fethiye Koleji

This brand new college opened in August 2004 and has only 22 pupils of which one is from UK. It is located on the main Mugla road out of town in a new building, clearly signed. It specialises in science and in preparing all its students for entry to Turkish universities. It offers:

• 42 hours of teaching per week

• including 6 hours of English

• maximum class size of 20

• state of the art labs for physics, chemistry and biology.

Fees

For the 2004 – 05 academic year the fees are:

Tuition - 6,500 YTL.

The above can be paid in instalments but, if paid in a lump sum, there is a reduction to 6,000 YTL.
