Mosquitoes

Living a hot climate usually means mosquitoes and the Fethiye area is no exception. Luckily Malaria does not exist in this area so you only have to worry about the annoying bites. It is best to sleep at night with a mosquito net over your bed and use a plug in insecticide to minimise midnight attacks on your way to the toilet.

The Fethiye Belidiye carries out systematic spraying throughout the year to minimise the numbers of mosquitoes. However, they still survive in small numbers. As soon as the weather warms up they hatch and begin their blood sucking.

You can also fit nets to your windows so you can open windows without invasion. However, open doors are the usual way in for them so it is best to buy some form of netting for the door too.

In the evenings if you are out you need to apply a barrier spray to discourage them.

There are many suggestions for keeping them at bay - you can buy electric light insectocutors, grow herbs on you balconies, eat Marmite, burn citronella candles and many more.
