A recent attraction for people visiting the Fethiye Friends of Animals Association centre has been a small Vervet monkey. Staff at the centre have now named him Coskun, which means “happy chappy”! He was brought to the centre a few months ago, having been found running loose in a nearby holiday town.
Probably he escaped from a cage, but no-one has come to claim him, so he has very quickly settled into the role of a comedian and entertains our visitors, and our staff, with his antics. His main pleasure is to play with the puppies in their kennels and he is often seen running with the pups and some of the bigger dogs, and play tag with them! The trees which surround our Centre are a natural habitat for him and we see no need to cage him. We have provided a small house for him during inclement weather.
Local television soon got to hear about him and they came and filmed his antics, which were recently shown on national television! He has become a star.
