Members of the Fethiye Gardening Club agreed to its closure at their AGM last week.

Twenty five members attended the AGM on 7 December held at Mutlu's Restaurant.

No-one was willing to become Chair of the Club, so it was decided to close the Garden Club after over five years of existence.

Several members commented on the lasting friendships they had formed with people they met at Club meetings, and voluble thanks were offered to all those who had taken part in its running.

There is no doubt all those who were members, or just attended meetings as visitors now and then, will have happy memories of gardens visited, home-baked cakes and scones eaten and things they have learned about gardening in this very different climate from the UK.

It was agreed to use the remaining funds to buy goods for the Van Earthquake Appeal. This shall be accomplished within the next few weeks and we'll tell you more about it here.
