The meeting took place at Carol and Clive’s garden in Ovacık and what a lovely garden it is.

The garden is only six years old and, as Carol rightly says, gardening here is starting from scratch. You have to learn what grows where and when things are going to bloom. Basically you need to forget everything you knew in UK and start all over again.

Carol prefers a cottage garden style and has certainly achieved a Mediterranean version in the area alongside the house.

Another interesting feature is her herb garden, growing in pots under the shade of an old almond tree. The tree has had two types of plums grafted on to it and both are now fruiting.

As well as enjoying a tour of the garden, members discussed plans for Çalış Open Gardens Day on Sunday 16th May and the gardening Club programme for September – December was also unveiled.
