The Fethiye Times Gardening Club reconvened after the summer break and explored a local garden centre before heading off to the beach for a drink and a catch-up.

Over thirty people met at the Nazdem garden centre, (on the main Dalaman road just after the Ciflik turn off) to stock up on plants, pots and compost.  There was lots to choose from, including a huge array of different bougainvillea, grasses, trees and other shrubs.

The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure everyone got what they needed and they also supplied us all with a very welcome cold drink and complimentary note pads.

Shopping done, we all headed off to Mutlu’s beach bar for an opening drink of the new season and to discuss upcoming events planned.

The club was also pleased to meet a few new members, “I’ve been meaning to come along for quite a while now,” said one. “It’s a great atmosphere and even though I’m new to the area and didn’t know a soul, everyone has been so friendly and welcoming.  I’ll definitely be coming again.”

The gardening club has events planned for the first Wednesday of every month, details of which are posted a week or two in advance on Fethiye Times.

The next meeting will take place on October 7, when we’ll be looking at the progress one member has been making on their garden – full details will be posted nearer the time.  Hope to see you there!
