Gardening Fethiye Times Gardening Club First Meeting Report

Fethiye Times' Gardening Club met for the first time on Wednesday 7
September at Yakamoz Hotel in Ovacik - thanks to Jan and Mike for hosting the
meeting. Nine people attended and enjoyed a tour of the Yakamoz gardens. These
are mature and well planted, but Jan and Mike, who've only been running the
Hotel since Novemer 2003, are committed to making the gardens even better. They
feel the gardens lack colour at this time of year and there was much discussion
on possible solutions for this problem - a common one in the UK as well as
here.
It was agreed to keep the Club on an informal basis for the time being with
meetings being held on the first Wednesday of each month at 3pm at various
venues. The October meeting will be a visit to the Forestry Commission Nursery
on the Antalya road. Meet at the entrance to the Nursery at 3pm or, If you need
transport, phone Pat on 633 6186.
