Here’s the proposed programme for the rest of this year.

3 September  Day trip to Esen near Patara.

We already have a list of 30+ people wanting to come on this trip and will be confirming it via the website in August.  We shall be booking a large coach so if you want to come and are not yet on the list please e-mail suze@fethiyetimes. This trip is dependent on the harvest at the vineyard which, in turn, is heavily dependent on the weather over the next few months.  Morning visit to Roy and Caroline’s garden.  Picnic lunch there.  Afternoon to local vineyard to see how wine is made and, insallah, taste the product.  Members 5YTL; non-members 10YTL.  Bring your own lunch, depart from Migros at 10.30am, back around 5pm.  Be ready to sign up and pay for October trip.

1 October  The classic Fethiye Times Gardening Club day trip to Ortaca (terracotta pots and other garden ‘feature’ items) then on to Koycegiz.

There will be an hour and a half for lunch which you can either buy in one of the many local restaurants or bring your own and eat by the lake.  Afternoon visit to Palm Centre.  Members 10YTL; non-members 20YTL.  Fee covers transport and entry to Palm Centre.  Please don’t dismiss this event because you’ve ‘been there’.  The Palm Centre is constantly developing and, when this writer last visited on 5 May, the indoor Plant Sales area had doubled in size since 2007 and the area in front of it has now been landscaped and looks fantastic filled with larger plants, shrubs and trees all for sale.  Meanwhile in the Garden there are a whole range of new water lilies, many of them scented, and lots of new plantings to admire.

5 November  Talk on garden design by Melis Duman of Melissa Garden Design.  Venue to be arranged.

3 December  Gardening DVD.  Venue to be arranged.

17 December  Gardening Christmas Quiz at Kosem.

If you’d like to join the Club membership is 10YTL for a year or part-year and all funds are used to support Club activities – hence cheap cost of above trips. 

If you’d like to try a meeting without commitment you just pay 5YTL to attend as a guest and, if you decide to convert that to membership by the end of the meeting, just give the other 5YTL and you’re a member.
