Linda and Mario’s garden was extended last year when they bought the field adjoining their existing garden which was planted up as an olive grove.

Most of the  old olive trees were removed and Nil Peyzaj from Göcek were hired to design and plant the area.

The results are stunning and an excellent example of what can be achieved using reputable local landscape designers.

As with the previous two gardens we have featured there is no lawn here – instead stone and gravel are used to cover areas where there is no planting.

This writer truly believes lawns are madness in this part of the world – think of all the water wasted to simply keep them green in high summer.

So it was very pleasing to find none of the owners who volunteered their gardens for the Open Day had lawns.

And the one feature of Linda and Mario’s garden that all who visited commented upon was the beautiful pavilion in one corner of the garden extension.

Imagine sitting here with a group of friends on a summer evening, cold drinks and the scent of the garden – bliss.
