Cars and Transport Driving Licence – More Considerations

Last week we published an article "Confused over Turkish driving licence regulations? We clear the air" to clear up the confusion about foreigners and driving licences in Turkey. But, as one reader has warned us, there’s also another important consideration – your insurance.
Our reader said that they checked with their insurance broker who said a Turkish licence wasn’t necessary. However, when they contacted their insurance company direct they said a Turkish driving licence was required or the policy would be invalid.
So, despite the law being quite clear it seems you will also need to check with your insurance company to make sure you are covered under your existing licence.
Yet another item to put on the check-list when shopping around for insurance.
