Want to check if a vehicle you plan to buy has been stolen? Well now there’s an easy way to check thanks to the Police on-line database.

One of the first things anyone should check before buying a second hand vehicle is whether it is stolen.

Up until recently that would have meant a lengthy trip from one office to another to another.

 
But now the Turkish Police have made their stolen vehicle database [Arac Bilgileri Sorgulama] available on-line.

So how easy is it to use?

Well we think it’s very easy especially if you follow our easy guide below.

First click on this link to be taken to the Police website. The website will open in a new window like the one below.

In box 1, as shown on the picture above, input the security code as shown on your web page. Note this code will differ each time.

Then in box 2 input the vehicle registration number.

Finally click box 3 the “Sorgula” button.

Assuming the security code is correct and the registration number is real the following screen containing key vehicle information will be shown.

Plakasi – Registration number

Markasi – The vehicle manufacturer

Model – Year of manufacture

Sahip Belge Tarihi – Date of registration with current owner

Renk 1 / 2 – Main colour(s) of the vehicle.

Cinsi – Type of vehicle

Calinti Mi – Is it reported stolen? EVET – Yes, HAYIR – No

Hak Muhrumiyeti – Is its use restricted

It’s a pity the database doesn’t hold the VIN number which is probably the key bit of information to prove the plates match the car.

Still this is a great free facility and one that should come in useful.
