Road Improvements In Full Swing

The surfaces and structure of the main roads and local roads in and around Fethiye are being gradually improved.

The main D400 road that brings freight and tourists to the Fethiye resorts has just opened a new stretch of improved road.
Summer visitors will remember the works being carried out during the summer and the huge task of cutting through the hill by the mosque outside Ciftlik. The new section running from Yaniklar to the first junction into Fethiye was opened in November this year.  The new stretch by-passes the villages of Yaniklar and Ciftlik and improves journey times by around 5 minutes.

The main road from Fethiye up through Tasyaka to Hisaronu is under going major widening this Winter. The road is still open while all the work takes place but traffic will be subject to delays during the work least of all because the road is un-surfaced in many places. Again the widening should improve journey times but we guess it will be firmly speed controlled in the Summer months to reduce accidents.

Fethiye Council is cracking on with its urban road improvements and has completed most of the Tuzla Mah area towards the sea. Who knows, maybe your local road will be improved next?

Finally, even though the new roads are much improved the standard of driving hasn't so keep your eyes open and drive safely.
