On 5th July the Uzumlu Ladies Group (ULG) raised over 3,000 Turkish Lira during their fundraising Hawaiian Luau Party at Guvens
ULG would like to thank our generous sponsors and everyone who attended the fun packed event and for all the generous contributions from everyone.
The money raised by the event has now enabled the group to fully fund the purchase of a specially adapted tricycle for a 14 year old boy, Mehmet, who until recently has never been able to walk or, in fact, sit up unaided.
However, following recent surgery he now shows positive signs of being able to do both and the equipment we will supply will be a great help to him.
In addition we have also been able to provide much needed equipment for Apracik-Nif Nursery, First and Middle Schools, including heaters and much of the furnishing for the new building.
Uzumlu Ladies will also be making a large donation to the Soma Bursary Appeal to contribute to the education of children who have been devasted by the disaster.
You can read more about the Soma Tomorrow to continue to support families of the Soma mining disaster here.
All, in all, a fabulous fun event raising both much needed funding and awareness of the plight of those less fortunate than ourselves.
