After nearly a decade of fun, laughter and hilarity at the Kismet Bar, there was an
emotional response from owners and customers alike when the popular watering-hole
closed for what was thought to be for the last time on Friday.
Although it has been known for a long time that closure was on the cards it was still
a sad event for all concerned. Only a few weeks ago we published ‘Stoic Brits’, a story
that described the determination with which customers continued to frequent
Kismet Bar despite the fact that the buildings were in the process of being demolished.
It was therefore no surprise when Ian and Nigel finally decided to call it a day and celebrate
with a farewell party.
Fethiye Times couldn’t be there but luckily Lyn Ward went along instead and captured
some of the final moments… and what better way could there be than to share her
photos with a few dramatic quotes from the boys themselves?
Well, that’s it we thought, as we scheduled the final chapter of Kismet Bar’s nine year history…
“Normal service will be resumed…”
As a result, it came as a surprise to read Ian and Nigel’s Facebook post on…
So there we were dismantling Kismet Bar…
when unbelievably we were told to hold fire!
There is yet another meeting on May 1st and it may, might,
could mean that developers are not going to do anything more
until the end of the season.”
On the other hand…
It still may mean that we will be given a couple of days notice to
get out after May 1st but at least we HAD our fantastic leaving do
and should we be closed down after May 1st it will be just
Goodnight from me and Goodnight from Him.
The last party?
So, it seems the closing party may have been a bit premature…
