‘What is that island in Fethiye Bay with the houses on?’

How many times have you heard or been asked that question?

The answer is…….

Şovalye Island

Şovalye Island (pronounced Chevalier), is the nearest inhabited Island to Fethiye and is just a short boat ride away.

The island is named after the Knights of St John who travelled over from the nearby island of Rhodes and used the island as one of their defensive positions. For those interested in history the remains of their defences can still be found.

The island is only accessible by boat, making it the ideal place to spend a quiet, relaxing day; no cars, no honking horns, no scooters, in fact the only sounds you will hear is the sea breeze rustling through the shrubs, birdsong and the occasional human voice.

So where is the best place to go on the island to enjoy this small piece of paradise right on Fethiye’s doorstep?

Ada Restaurant and Beach Club

Relax, Eat and Drink at Ada Restaurant and Beach Club, the perfect place to spend a day. The complimentary boat service will collect you from the Şat Peninsula and drop you at the Ada’ s small private harbour.

Start your day with a leisurely, unhurried Turkish breakfast prepared with locally sourced produce and served with bread from the traditional bread oven. Have a table in the garden area and enjoy the natural shade provided by the mature trees and a gentle breeze from the sea.

Ada Breakfast

In the evening the restaurant takes on a different atmosphere; enjoy a romantic evening meal on the rooftop terrace and enjoy the panoramic view of Fethiye, Çalış and Red Island at sunset.

While away a lazy day at Ada Beach Club and lounge on one of the shaded sun beds or in a Köşk (pavilion). Have a swim to cool off in the clear blue sea or just dangle your feet in the warm water of the small harbour.

If you feel like some exercise you can take a walk round the island along wonderful shaded walking trails leading through lovely pine scented forests.  It takes about 45 minutes or a bit longer if you stop off to marvel at some of the cool pads with fantastic views and their own moorings; the stuff dreams are made of.

Beach comb along the shoreline of sand and shingle bays.

There is so much choice you may have to come again!

Ece Boutique Hotel

Or you could book into our hotel on the island, the 12-bedroom Ece Boutique, and stay longer!
